Ice Climbing has been happening in the Winona for more than a decade now. What started with a few individuals exploring their passion for climbing has turn into an international destination for those who have fallen in love with the sport of ice climbing. The Recreation Alliance of Winona in partnership and contract with the City of Winona have been empowered to make this dream happen. The individuals who started this quest are still at the core of the team who build the park. “Ice Farmers” as they are known spend endless hours each year building the nearly 1,100' long x 100’ high walls of ice. Additionally they coordinate volunteer days throughout the year to care for and maintain the surrounding park land. Trail building and maintenance, invasive species removal and general park infrastructure. We are eternally grateful for their dedication and passion!
